railway station

concept

Amrit Bharat Samakhyali Railway Station is envisioned as a contemporary public infrastructure project rooted in regional identity and cultural familiarity. Designed as part of a government initiative and completed in 2025, the station seeks to balance functionality with a strong sense of place. The concept draws from Indian architectural sensibilities and the cultural context of Kutch, aiming to create a welcoming, dignified transit space that resonates with everyday users. Rather than being overtly monumental, the station expresses simplicity, order, and clarity, where architecture, interiors, and landscape come together to reflect an Indian ethos suited to a public realm.

design

The architectural language is defined by brick tile finishes, GRC jali screens, and round columns that lend rhythm, texture, and climate responsiveness to the built form. The interiors incorporate elements of traditional Kutch art, grounding the station in local craftsmanship while enhancing the commuter experience. The landscape design remains intentionally simple and restrained, prioritizing ease of movement and clear visibility, with minimal planting and a straightforward layout that complements the architecture rather than competing with it. Together, the interior architecture and landscape follow an Indian-style architectural approach—functional, contextual, and modest—resulting in a cohesive public space that is efficient, culturally rooted, and accessible to all.
