concept
The landscape is conceived as a carefully choreographed transition from structure to openness, where spatial layers unfold through a balance of defined geometry and subtle curvature. The design begins with a strong architectural threshold, using linear elements to establish order and entry sequence, and gradually softens into a more relaxed, immersive garden experience. Curves are introduced selectively to guide movement, ease transitions, and create moments of pause, allowing the landscape to feel intuitive and human-scaled. The intent is to create a journey—moving from arrival and containment into openness and connection—where each space reveals itself progressively, offering a harmonious blend of clarity, calmness, and experiential richness.
design
The entry sequence is defined by two parallel walls, with the front wall articulated as a water feature, establishing a strong visual and sensory threshold. A secondary wall beyond the entry acts as a buffer, subtly separating the arrival forecourt—with its steps, planters, and water—from the openness of the main lawn. As one moves inward, the pathway gently transitions into a zen garden, creating a moment of calm before reaching a focal T-junction marked by a sculptural water bowl placed over a parametric tray-like structure. From here, the landscape opens into a central lawn that acts as the primary gathering space. To the left, a sunken seating and outdoor dining area is nestled within soft planting and shaded by strategically placed trees, creating an intimate social zone. On the right, a gazebo oriented toward the golf course offers a more contemplative, outward-looking experience, preceded by a yoga deck that enhances the sense of retreat. A continuous, curvilinear pathway stitches all elements together—connecting the entry, lawn, seating, gazebo, and both farmhouses—ensuring fluid movement while maintaining clear spatial organization. The interplay of defined edges and soft curves creates a landscape that is structured yet relaxed, functional yet experiential.
