concept
The landscape concept begins with preservation and inward living. Existing mango trees on the site were carefully mapped and retained, becoming anchors for the overall spatial planning. The idea was to create a secure yet open home where all bedrooms overlook a vast backyard garden, ensuring privacy without disconnecting from nature. Dual courtyards form the core of the landscape strategy, acting as green buffers that separate public and private zones while maintaining visual and climatic continuity throughout the house.
design
The inner courtyard functions as a semi controlled landscape court, connected to living and dining spaces, with operable louvers that regulate rain, dust, and airflow. The outer courtyard opens fully to the sky and extends toward the backyard garden, creating a layered transition from built to open space. Sliding wooden screens along the garden edge provide security at night while allowing cross ventilation. Together, the courtyards and preserved trees shape a breathable, inward focused landscape that balances openness, climate responsiveness, and safety.
