Project Brief
One of a kind project, the adaptive reuse of Karni Fort opened a set of limitations and explorations for the Studio. What started as an open slate with an oddly placed ‘chatri’, turned out to be a naturally crafted place with the ‘chatri’ as the central element.
The site holds trees as old as the Karni Fort and a conscious effort of sustaining these big shots has been made. The central gazebo binds the existing view decks of the site together, bringing harmony and connection into the perspective. Meandering through the pathways by the arches of the aqueduct and water body or galavanting through the tree trails by the lush cluster of existing trees, one can feel the spirit of the forest, all while Karni standing as the background in all the views.
The landscaping at Karni Fort plays the role of bringing people together and engaging them with nature. With the trees playing as the main characters throughout the project, the green views and the cool breeze
add to the much-awaited relaxation of the user’s getaway.
