Twoplustwo functions from one of the most accessible & contemporary district of Bodakdev in the heritage city of Ahmedabad. The studio has been flourishing from a beautiful concrete built-form overlooking the ever-busy highway. The building was designed for the Jewellers’ storage floor and later used for furnishing store, a gaming arena, before being remodelled into a bustling creative studio. The poetics of spaces defines our identity as a wild as well as disciplined designers. The play of materials, the open planning connects the 3000 sq ft workspace and the overall design has been taken as inspirations from our completed/conceptualised projects.

The practice is composed of the different zone’s names after the species of local flora; religiosa, our sanctum sanctorum, houses our complete design crew; scholaris being our internal development space & spaces like aurea, indica and oleander function as meeting and discussion rooms. Dialogues & collaborations are the key part of our routines and therefore more than 40% of our workspace is dedicated to the same. The design of this workplace has been done to prevent the traditional hierarchical planning & instead promotes free thoughts & positive environs. The studio is also equipped with a versatile design library with 500+ titles relating to architecture, design & landscapes and various Indian & global publications. We keep on pushing towards state of the art facilities in the studio updated with the latest techniques and trends around the world.

Twoplustwo has been working in line with the studios around the world, aiming towards a greener and healthier future. Our designs and decisions have been always centred towards low material wastage, highly sustainable solutions, making projects economic as well as our clients happier. Sustainability for us is not just some piece of certificate or documentation, but a precise line of inquiries to identify the building materials which are not an environmental resource drain, or merely superficial in nature to satisfy the artists within us. Any piece of land (or space) assigned to the studio, is taken with the sense of responsibility to nurture, preserve & modulate it, with respect to the spirit of that land/space. Adding to all this, when you are working with Twoplustwo, you are actually working with a green studio which is saving a lot of its electricity, by using radiant cooling system instead of conventional Air Conditioning and have an installed capacity of 18KW of solar energy. The studio uses state of the art automation systems of controlling light and heat intake of the building. Twoplustwo is currently also investing a lot in electrical mobility to promote and make it site visits and transportation totally sustainable and clean energy driven.
All this is an attempt to be carbon neutral.
