public landscape

concept

The landscape is conceived as a contemporary interpretation of the spatial language found in the historic observatories of Jantar Mantar in Delhi and Jaipur. Rather than designing the garden as a continuous park, the idea explores a field of independent architectural fragments—forms that stand individually yet collectively create a larger spatial narrative. Much like the astronomical instruments of Jantar Mantar, these elements are placed with intention, generating curiosity, movement, and discovery within the landscape. The design introduces a strong sense of Indian identity through earthy materials, sculptural geometries, and layered planting. For residents, the space evokes familiarity and cultural memory, allowing people shifting into the development to feel connected to a context that resonates with Indian architectural traditions. At the same time, the landscape becomes an exploratory environment for children, where forms, textures, and spaces subtly introduce them to the idea of “Indianness” through everyday play and interaction.

design

The layout organizes the landscape as a central green court surrounded by freestanding architectural interventions that accommodate multiple activities. Terracotta-toned sculptural elements with arches, steps, and niches function as play structures, seating edges, and planting pockets, creating interactive spaces for children while maintaining a strong visual identity. A large lawn anchors the composition and acts as a shared gathering space for the community. Pergola structures and shaded seating areas offer quieter pockets for relaxation, while layered planting beds and flowering trees frame the open spaces. The swimming pool area within the landscape, becoming a central activity node that integrates leisure and social interaction within the garden. Water features, textured pathways, and carefully curated planting soften the built forms and enhance the sensory experience. Together, these elements create a landscape that blends recreation, culture, and architecture—offering residents a setting that feels rooted in Indian context while providing a playful and engaging environment.
