concept
The landscape is imagined as a spatial metaphor for the journey of life, unfolding sequentially through three distinct yet interconnected realms—Germinal, Youthfulness, and Concluding. Rather than treating open space as a singular recreational ground, the design narrates growth, energy, and reflection through movement. The progression begins with childhood, where curiosity and play define experience; it then transitions into a vibrant, expressive zone representing youth; and finally settles into a calm, contemplative environment for the elderly. Each stage is not isolated but gently flows into the next, mirroring life’s natural evolution. Through shifts in scale, colour, texture, and activity, the landscape becomes more than a setting—it becomes a lived timeline, encouraging interaction across generations while acknowledging the emotional and physical nuances of each phase of life.
design
The Germinal zone forms the threshold of the site, anchored by a playful water curtain that doubles as a welcoming gesture and sensory element. A sculpted play court with varied equipment, soft flooring patterns, and integrated water features encourages exploration and movement. This transitions into the Youthfulness zone, marked by a bold red bridge structure that acts as both circulation and statement. Beneath and around it, an open lawn accommodates gathering, informal interaction, and community events, complemented by elemental seating along its edge under the sky. The journey culminates in the Concluding zone, designed with restraint and softness. Pergolas wrapped in creepers, a gentle green mound with subtle fountains, shaded seating, and a swing create a restful retreat. Material palettes, planting, and spatial character shift gradually—vibrant and dynamic at the start, composed and shaded at the end—ensuring the landscape matures as one moves through it.
